DUBLIN, Europe: Trinity College Dublin has secured its position among Europe's top academic institutions, clinching the 31st spot in the first-ever QS World University Rankings dedicated exclusively to European universities.
This distinguished list features 688 universities from across the continent.
Four Irish universities have earned a place in the top 100. Queen's University Belfast ranks 70th, while University College Dublin and the University of Galway share the joint 71st position alongside Trinity.
Trinity College Dublin had previously achieved 81st rank globally in the QS World University Rankings for 2024.
In the European rankings, the University of Oxford has claimed the coveted top spot, with seven out of the top 10 institutions hailing from the United Kingdom. Switzerland's ETH Zurich secured the second position.
The remaining universities in the top 10 include the University of Cambridge (UK), Imperial College London (UK), University College London (UK), University of Edinburgh (UK), Universit PSL (France), University of Manchester (UK), EPFL (Switzerland), and King's College London (UK).
University College Cork just missed the top 100, ranking at 109th place, while Dublin City University and the University of Limerick share a joint 152nd position. Technological University Dublin has been placed at 286th, and Maynooth University secured the 311th position in this prestigious list.
