LONDON -- Economists from Wall Street giants including Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have forecast a higher possibility of a recession in the United States over the next year, Reuters reported.
"Goldman Sachs forecast a 30 percent chance of the U.S. economy tipping into recession over the next year, up from 15 percent earlier, following record-high inflation and a weak macroeconomic backdrop due to the Ukraine conflict," a report by Reuters said on Tuesday. (US-Recession)

BAGHDAD -- A total of 64 new lawmakers were sworn in on Thursday in the Iraqi parliament to fill most of the gap left by resignation of 73 members of the Sadrist Movement, the biggest winner in the Oct. 10 elections, according to a parliament statement.
The remaining nine vacant seats will be filled later, after the extraordinary session headed by Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi and attended by 202 lawmakers, local media reported. (Iraq-New Lawmakers-Resignation)

JOHANNESBURG -- South Africa detected its first monkeypox case involving a 30-year-old man who didn't travel recently, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said on Thursday.
The man was residing in Gauteng province, home to Johannesburg and Pretoria, and it was detected through laboratory testing at the NICD on Wednesday, the division of the National Health Laboratory Service said in a statement. (South Africa-Monkeypox-First case)
