MOSCOW -- Russia may set up a new naval fleet in the Arctic to guard the Northern Sea Route, the TASS news agency reported on Thursday.
"We are currently examining the possibility of creating a new structure, namely the Russian Arctic fleet," TASS cited a source from the country's naval forces. (Russian-Arctic Fleet)

TOKYO -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 on late Thursday struck Japan's Chiba Prefecture, but no tsunami warning has been issued, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The temblor occurred at around 10:41 p.m. local time, with its epicenter at a latitude of 35.6 degrees north and a longitude of 140.1 degrees east, and at a depth of 80 km. (Japan-Earthquake)

KHOST, Afghanistan -- One person has been confirmed dead and 17 others were injured as an explosive device went off in a religious school in Khost city, capital of eastern Khost province on Wednesday, a provincial official said Thursday.
The official, Mawlawi Mohammad Sabir Sabari, said the blast took place in Mazharul Alum Madrasa (Mazharul Alum religious school) late Wednesday, leaving one learner dead and injuring 17 others. (Afghanistan-Blast-School)
